Parking Volunteers Needed for Upcoming
Despite some less than pleasant
weather early this season, the Great Lakes Loons parking project has been very
successful. We already have achieved our goal of collecting enough funds to
meet our Polio Plus contribution obligation of $1,000 for the next fiscal year!
Through the game on June 2, we have netted $1,012 after paying half of the
receipts to the McKay parking lot owner! This also includes one night that we
parked cars in the Dirk Waltz parking lot.
Many people have participated in this venture to make it a successful. First, Sue Moody secured the many dates for the McKay parking lot by meeting with the owner. And, through a lot of persistence and hard work, Dom Gagliardi also secured the Dirk Waltz lot for the May 10 game. Thanks, Sue and Dom!
Many volunteers helped staff the various games. Thank you to: Jeff Bennett, Bob Burgess, Greg Dorrien, Rick Fraser, Dom Gagliardi, Ryan Green, Larry Lang, Lance Lewis, Bob LoFiego, Sue and Chad Moody, Wally Mayton, Clark McKenzie, Doug Randall, Mike Rush, Tom Smith, Bridget Sadenwater, Randy Tarzwell, and Rob Worsley. It’s great to have such broad Rotary participation!
We still have a few dates remaining, including Thursday, Aug. 4 , Tuesday, Aug. 23, and Sunday, Sept. 4. Please consider volunteering for one of these games. This is a great opportunity for our club to raise $400 to $500 per game with only three short hours of work. We need to staff each game with five volunteers. If you are available and interested in assisting, please contact Jude Patnaude at (989) 839-5307 or jude.patnaude@chemicalbankmi.com.
Third Annual Oktoberfest to be Held Thursday, Sept. 29

Our third annual Oktoberfest-style beer tasting
fundraiser is being planned for Thursday, Sept. 29. The event will be
held at the Midland Curling Club. A planning committee is being formed; however
the support of all club members is needed in order to make this a success.
Please watch your e-mail for further details.
Hats Off!
Thank you to all who donated their

wonderful event. They are: Ryan Greene and family, Michelle Kocan,
Walt Leuth, Bob LoFiego,
Lynn McCarty, Sharon Miller, Doug Randall, Bridgett Sadenwater,
Randy Tarzwell, and Mike Zimmerman.
A Rising Success: Spring Bread
Dollars raised from spring bread
sale was an outstanding victory for the Midland Morning Rotary Club. More than
$1,300 was collected with your help. A special thank you to all
club members who volunteered their time. They are: Ann Fillmore,
Michelle Kocan, Lynn McCarty, Sharon Miller, Mike
Rush, Bridgett Sadenwater and Walt Leuth.

Ongoing Projects
Used Postage Stamps: Used postage stamps continue to be collected to send to the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIBP) in England. The RNIBP takes these used stamps to dealers or collectors, and the money goes to support programs and aid for blind and partially-sighted people. They can use stamps of any value from any country. Simply cut them off the letter or package leaving ¼ to ½ inch of paper around the stamps or block of stamps. Please collect these stamps and give to Elyse or put them in the marked envelope at our registration table.
